The
Sign of the Cross
The
Sign of the Cross is not only an action,
but a statement of faith itself. In this
simple gesture, one is not only making a
sign of our redemption, the Cross, but
is also expressing faith in the Blessed
Trinity.
IN
the name of the Father, and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Glory Be
A
short expression of praise to the
Trinity from the very early Church.
GLORY
be to the Father, and to the Son, and to
the Holy Spirit. As it was in the
beginning, is now, and will be forever.
Amen.

The Our
Father
(The Lord's Prayer)
The
Our Father is the best of all prayers
because it is the Lord's Prayer, taught
us by Jesus Christ Himself, and because
it is a prayer of perfect and unselfish
love.
The
Our Father is a prayer of perfect and
unselfish love because in saying it we
offer ourselves entirely to God and ask
from Him the best things, not only for
ourselves but also for our neighbor.
OUR
Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be
Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread and forgive
us our trespasses as we forgive those
who trespass against us. And lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from
evil. Amen.

The Hail Mary
The
Ave Maria is perhaps the most popular of
all the Marian prayers. It is composed
of two distinct parts, a Scriptural part
and an intercessory part.
HAIL
Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with
thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us
sinners, now, and in the hour of our
death. Amen.

Angel of God
Angele
Dei, also know as the Prayer to One's
Guardian Angel, carries a partial
indulgence. Guardian Angels protect
their charges against the assaults of
demons to preserve them from sin.
October 2 is the memorial to the
Guardian Angels.
ANGEL
of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom his love commits me here;
Ever this (day, night) be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.

Blessing Before and after Meals
+
Prayer
Before Meals
BLESS
us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts which we
are about to receive from Thy bounty,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Add for
midday;
May the King
of everlasting glory make us partakers
of the heavenly table. Amen.
Add for
evening;
May the King
of ever-lasting glory lead us to the
banquet of life eternal. Amen.
+
Prayer
After Meals
WE
give Thee thanks, almighty God, for all
Thy benefits, who livest and reignest
for ever and ever. Amen.
V.
May the Lord grant us His peace.
R.
And life everlasting.
Amen.

Come Holy
Spirit
A
traditional prayer asking for the Holy
Spirit. The first part, along with the
versicle and response, has a partial
indulgence attached to it.
COME,
Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy
faithful and kindle in them the fire of
Thy love.
V.
Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be
created.
R.
And Thou shalt renew the face of the
earth.
Let us pray
O
GOD, Who taught the hearts of the
faithful by the light of the Holy
Spirit, grant that, by the gift of the
same Spirit, we may be always truly
wise, and ever rejoice in His
consolation. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The
Apostle's Creed
Originally this Creed was a baptismal
creed summarizing the teachings of the
Apostles and was given to the
catechumens when they were baptized.
A partial indulgence is
granted to the faithful who recite the
Symbolum Apostolorum.
I
BELIEVE in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth. I believe
in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the
Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was
crucified, died, and was buried. He
descended to the dead. On the third day
He rose again. He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God, the
Father Almighty. From thence He shall
come to judge the living and the dead. I
believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy
catholic Church, the communion of
saints, the forgiveness of sins, the
resurrection of the body, and the life
everlasting. Amen.

+ For Fidelity to the Will of God
+
Jesus,
extended upon the cross, I implore You,
give me the grace of doing faithfully
the most holy will of Your Father, in
all things, always and everywhere. And
when this will of God will seem to me
very harsh and difficult to fulfill, it
is then I beg You, Jesus, may power and
strength flow upon me from Your wounds
and may my lips keep repeating, ,'Your
will be done, O Lord.' O Savior of the
world, Lover of man's salvation, who in
such terrible torment and pain forget
Yourself to think only of the salvation
of souls, O most compassionate Jesus,
grant me the grace to forget myself that
I may live totally for souls, helping
You in the work of salvation, according
to the most holy will of Your Father.
Amen.

Anyone with the use of reason may
baptize in time of need, but the same
person must say the words while pouring
the water. Pour plain water on the
forehead of the one to be baptized, as
you say: "I baptize thee in the name of
the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Ghost."
